About Us
Before the founding Yale Black Pre-Law Association, Yale College lacked an organization that catered to the interest and needs of pre-law students, especially Black pre-law students. After noticing this gap in resources, the Yale Black Pre-Law Association was created in 2023 by Kalvin Verner (Ezra Stiles ‘26) and Darcy Rodriguez Ovalles (Pauli Murray ‘25.5) to provide resources and community to black-identifying Yale undergraduates.

YBPLA aims to create a supportive and inclusive space for Black pre-law students at Yale College. The association aims to provide its members with resources and opportunities for professional and academic growth, while offering guidance and assistance in navigating the undergraduate career path towards law school.
Additionally, the association strives to foster connections with the Yale Law School (YLS) community and facilitate networking opportunities for its members. Ultimately, the association aims to empower black pre-law students by equipping them with the necessary tools and support to succeed in their legal aspirations.
